Growth opportunities FUNCTION The General Manager of Achilles-Agway locations at Runnings is responsible to oversee all facets of operations within his or her 6 assigned retail store locations.
This position is ultimately responsible for assuring the highest level of customer service throughout these locations.
The General Manager is a role model and a leader and must solve problems, make informed decisions, and manage the work force to achieve maximum results.
The General Manager for the Achilles-Agway locations will be an entrepreneurial jack-of-all-trades and will own the P&L and all Merchandising and Store Operations for this unique group of stores at Runnings.
In addition, the General Manager will work with administrative staff and other managers to help manage office operations and the day-to-day flow of business.
This position is perfect for someone with a strong interest in creating a positive workplace environment and fostering long-term working relationships.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the recruiting, hiring, and development of store managers, assistant store managers, manager trainees and key personnel within a store.
Manage vendors to enhance effectiveness, productivity, and communication skills when dealing with stores, vendors and other departments.
Develop an overall plan between yourself and the buying team for selecting a mix of goods that satisfies customer needs based on brand name, quality, packaging and consumer demand while ensuring achievement of department sales, profit, inventory, and return on investment goals.
Create seasonal plans for each merchandise season and holiday, including items purchased, pricing, display, advertising, arrival dates, and seasonal close-outs.
Lead the establishment and implementation of pricing strategies (everyday and competitive) that conform to Achilles-Agway's image while maintaining a satisfactory gross profit for the Company.
Coordinate with the necessary departments, including distribution and logistics, to re-order needed merchandise.
Regularly visit competitor's stores.
Help resolve problems that affect the stores' service, efficiency, and productivity.
Conduct orientation, train and coach the management staff in execution of daily tasks and to maximize sales.
Ensure that proper channels of communication exist between stores and the Retail Support Center.
Review operational reports and records to assure adherence to company policies and procedures, monitor store profitability and manage to a budget.
Visits each store to share and exchange ideas and experience and to inspect premises of stores to ensure that adequate security exists and that physical facilities comply with safety and environmental codes.
Oversee compliance of store managers with established company policies and standards such as safekeeping of company funds, personnel practices, security, and inventory management.
Conduct annual store manager performance and store evaluations.
